(White Castle, May 12, 2022)

May is National Burger Month and White Castle has a lot to celebrate. In addition to being America’s first fast food burger chain and the pioneer of the smaller-sized burger that eventually became known as The Original Slider, the 101-year-old family business recently crossed a Milestone: All-time sales of its burgers — The Original Slider and Cheese Slider — topped 28 billion. This includes 22 billion sliders sold in restaurants and another 6 billion sold through the company’s retail division.

“This is a momentous time for White Castle, and what better time to celebrate than National Burger Month,” said Jamie Richardson, Vice President of White Castle. “We played a vital role in introducing the hamburger over 100 years ago. It’s gratifying to see our numbers soar, solidifying our role in the burger’s enduring popularity.

White Castle celebrates its version of the burger – the slider – all year round. But it offers special promotions and activities throughout National Burger Month designed to thank and honor its customers and team members.

For the first time since 2019, White Castle will continue its long tradition of having members of the home office team work at the company’s castles and food manufacturing facilities. More than 250 team members are expected to spend a day in May either steaming sliders and greeting customers or helping on production lines to manufacture and package sliders sold at outlets across United States.

“Our team members look forward to this day every year, as it gives us all the chance to experience memorable moments with our colleagues and customers, said Richardson. “It’s all part of how we achieve our vision to nurture the souls of Craver generations everywhere.”

White Castle will also celebrate National Burger Month by inducting its 2021 class into the Cravers Hall of Fame. On May 19, 10 people from across the country will join this exclusive club, which White Castle started in 2001 to recognize its most loyal and passionate fans, affectionately known as the Cravers. They were selected from over 250 entries, all of which described the very personal way White Castle touched their lives and created lasting memories. The induction ceremony will take place at the White Castle headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

White Castle’s National Slider Day takes place on May 15, right in the middle of National Burger Month. On this day dedicated to the burger that launched the fast food industry, White Castle will be giving away a free Cheese Slider (no purchase necessary) to anyone with a digital coupon, which will be emailed to subscribers and published. on White Castle’s social media. .

White Castle launched its retail division in 1987, becoming the first fast food restaurant to offer its famous dishes in grocery stores, clubs and convenience stores for preparation at home. Now celebrating its 35th anniversaryand anniversary during National Hamburger Month, the retail side of the business transformed White Castle into a successful consumer packaged goods company as well as a fast food icon.

“You can’t talk about the history of the burger without mentioning White Castle,” Richardson said. “This month, we salute the burger and White Castle’s role in making it accessible to the masses. Long live the sliders!”
