Dhar/Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Offering a lift to an unfamiliar woman could land you in trouble. Police in Amjhera village in Dhar district apprehended two people, including a woman, involved in six cases of blackmail and extortion.

Amzhera Police Station Chief Kamal Panwar said the arrested accused was identified as Lokesh, 21, son of Prahlad Dayama, a resident of Molana Kesuri in Badnawar tehsil and Maya, 19, daughter of Lokesh Dayama, a resident of Imlipura village. in the tehsil of Sardarpur.

Panwar informed that the duo confessed their crime and admitted that they have so far blackmailed seven people from Dhar, Rajgarh, Mohankheda and other nearby villages and extorted Rs 1.18 lakh from them. The search for other members involved in the crime is ongoing.

Panwar informed that a certain Gajanand Suner, 47, a resident of Patlawadi village filed a complaint claiming that two people including a woman were blackmailing him by threatening to release his music video. Panwar said the Complainant claimed that on February 3, while he was traveling from Magod village to Amjhera on his motorbike, a woman asked him to take her, as she was apparently going to the same village. After a while they met another person and Gajanand agreed to take him too as the woman said she knew the man. But after some time, the culprits forced Gajanand to ride his motorbike to a closed cement plant near Amjhera where the girl started seducing him and this was caught on cell phone.

When Gajanand protested, he was beaten by four other people who were hiding there. The accused snatched his mobile phone and the motorbike and asked him to pay Rs 20,000 if he wanted his cellphone and his motorbike back.

Fearing social humiliation, Ganjanand went to Magod village and handed over the money to the young girl and returned with her phone and the motorbike.

But that was not the end of his ordeal, on May 2, the accused called him again and demanded Rs 50,000. However, this time, Gajanand filed a complaint with the local police. Based on the mobile number he provided, the police tracked down the location of the defendants and apprehended them.
