Skal International has had new management since January 01, 2022. The new leadership was elected by the members on December 20, 2022. The elections for the 2022 Board of Directors were held via an electoral partner with a record number of delegations. Members of Skal International elected Burcin Turkkanthe 2021 Senior Vice President, as the new Global President of Skal International. Burcin Turkkan is the first female executive elected to the SI EB representing the United States. She is also the youngest female world president. Skal International elected since 1934.

The members of Skal International also elected the other members of the executive committee in the following order: John Steta – Senior Vice President of Mexico; Marja Eela Kaskinendirector of Finland; Annette Cardenasdirector of Panama; Denise Scraftondirector of Australia. In addition to the members of the SI EC, the SI EB includes the president of the ISC Julie Dabaly, from Kenyaacting vice president Hulya Aslantas from Turkeyand the CEO Daniela Oterofrom Spain to the board of directors.

Representing 40 categories within the industry with over 12,500 members worldwide, in 2022 Skal International seeks to tackle the global issues facing our members and the challenges facing the industry, in collaboration with global organizations and NGOs. Thirty days in office, President Turkkan launched 8 committees to address industry challenges and global issues, grow membership, increase visibility and support Skal International Board in achieving set goals for 2022. Members of the organization are encouraged to volunteer on these committees. with the presidential theme set for the year: “We are stronger together as one”. As an organization with 88 years of history, we envision restructuring and modernizing governance, better fiscal and financial policies, and strategic membership growth globally.
